Unboxing- Online Extravaganza! and Occasions/ Sale-a-bration pre-order

Hello my crafty peeps!

Who's ready for the holidays? I say that I am but I keep finding little things that still need to be done. Ain't that always the way. Lol. I've taken a break this week from project videos so I can get caught up and work out my game plan for the coming year. Speaking of the New Year, did everyone hear about my giveaway? See my post from last Saturday for more detail and to enter!

My next project video will be featuring new product from the Occasions catalog that will go live on my shopping site January 4. This will also begin Sale-a-bration, a wonderful time during which you can earn free product for every $50 you purchase.

My video for today is an unboxing of what I grabbed during the Online Extravaganza! I've already used some of the products in previous tutorial. So far I have loved everything I have acquired from Stampin' Up! It's great to find a company that you can count on delivering quality products.
I'm also adding the unboxing for my Occasions and Sale-a-bration pre-order. Figured I get both out of the way so I can get back to creating!

Until next time...happy crafting and Happy Holidays!

Hello my crafty peeps!

It's day 11 of my 12 days of Christmas! How many of us are ready for Christmas? I feel like I'm pretty ready. The shopping for the kiddos is done and I'm just waiting on a good time to sit down and watch White Christmas while wrapping presents. It's my thing. Lol. Can you believe my boyfriend had never seen White Christmas until last year when I made him help me wrap? Yes, he did live under a rock. He says it was quite a nice rock.

On to today's project. Another card! I'm using the Holly Jolly layers hostess stamp set and just like the Cozy Critters set you can only get it using Stampin' Rewards. See my last post if you want more info. This is a really awesome set to make quick and elegant cards and tags and anything else you would want to add a nice sentiment to.

Foxy Cozy Critter card

Hello my crafty peeps!

We're on day 10 of my 12 days of Christmas! Can you believe it?!

I've got another card for you but now that we're in the final stretch I wanted to make it fairly simple so you can whip out a bunch and send them off quick. I'm still loving the Cozy Critters hostess stamp set and want to get as much use out of it as I can until it's retired. Which it will be after Jan. 4th. The good news is that we have fun new products coming out in our Occasions catalog! Back to Cozy Critters. It is a hostess set which means you can only get it using Stampin' Rewards which you earn on any order over $150. That's when hosting a party sounds really nice, right? Contact me if you're interested in a virtual party through Facebook or if you're local to the Bennington, Vt area we can schedule a live party. And feel free to sign up for my Classes & Kits mailing list. I'm still working out the logistics but hope to do at least one class a month.

Now..on to the video!

Gingerbread House Ornament

Hello my crafty peeps!

It's day 9 of my 12 days of Christmas! Can you believe how fast it's going? It's going to over before I'm ready for it to be. Lol.

For today's project we're pulling out the Sweet Home bundle and making a gingerbread house. And to add a different twist, we're going to hang it from our Christmas tree! So much fun! You can decorate your house however you wish. This is what I did so just let it inspire you and above all, learn from my mistakes. Lol.

Simple Candy Cane Christmas card

Hello my crafty peeps!

Welcome to day 8 of my 12 days of Christmas! Hard to believe it's only 4 more projects. I've got so many more ideas. I'll have to start earlier next year. Lol.

Today's project is a pretty simple card that can easily be massed produced. While filming I had quite a few things go wrong. Human error is part of making something handmade. You've got to be adaptable and roll with the punches. I kept the video 'as is' so y'all can see that it's okay to make mistakes and that sometimes things don't go according to plan. Nobody is perfect and that's okay too. The important part is that you keep trying or use your imagination and creativity to come up with a solution. That's right, make some delicious lemonade with those lemons!

Candy Cane Lane Mini Gift Boxes

Hello my crafty peeps!
It's day 7 of my 12 days of Christmas. Time is flying. Soon we'll hear sleigh bells on the roof and the Jolly Elf himself 'ho, ho, ho-ing' over our cookies and milk. But before all that we still have time for some Christmas crafting. Have you checked out the Year End Closeouts yet? It's a great time to stock up on items that are retiring before you can't get them anymore. You can also pick up some items that are overstocked in the warehouse. Enough about all that, let's get to today's project.

This year my boyfriend and I will have our kiddos for Christmas! Shout out to all the blended families out there who split holidays. My Ethan is 12 and the Princess is 4. So stocking will be hung by the chimney with care with the hopes that they will be filled with fun goodies. I decided to use my new Gift Box punch board to make some little boxes so I could fill them and put them in the stockings. I'm making them so they 'explode' open. No actual explosives will be used. Lol. I've made bows to decorate the Princess's boxes and kept Ethan's plain.

Mixed Media Christmas canvas

Hello my crafty peeps!

It's day 6 of my 12 days of Christmas and I've got a special project for you. Since I've been decorating my home for the Holidays I realized I need more decorations. I love to make my own home decor and be able to completely customize it. I went into what I call my 'blanks' supplies (you know, all the things you pick up here and there with the intention of altering and making into something) I grabbed a small 4" X 4" canvas and some of my supplies and made art! For beginners the small size of the canvas is less intimidating and easier to fill with mixed media bits and pieces.
So here is a video on the process I went through to achieve the finished project. If you choose to try this at home you can keep it more simple if you like. Use the techniques that you like and make your project your own.

In the meantime, I have a cute card in the distressed style I love so much. I had so much fun designing this. And I can finally show you the best way to use the candy cane stripe decorative mask.

Hello my crafty peeps!

It's day 2 of my 12 days of Christmas. I thought I'd get in a fancy shaker card early on. We'll be using the Jar of Cheer stamp set that coordinates with the Everyday Jar dies. Y'all know I love the Jar of Love bundle! This is not a card for mass production, unless you're a glutton for punishment. Lol. Make this card for your favorite people. Christmas Magic Frosty Tag

Hello my crafty peeps!

It's so wonderful to be working in my new art space! I've got so much room. And it's away from all the hubbub but I can still hear what's going on in my house. Very important when you have kids. Lol. My creative juices are a-flowing!

I put together this quick little tag for y'all. I wanted to play with the new Stitched Shapes framelits but didn't have a ton of time so I needed something quick. Tags are also a great way to use up scraps. Easy peezy, my peeps. I'm amazed at the difference a little bit of stitching makes. It makes this quick tag look so professional. Just buy it a suit and send it off into the workforce. Lol.

Stampin' Up! unboxing Nov 2016

Hello my crafty peeps!

It's been a hectic few weeks for me and my family. We were scrambling to get our mortgage cleared and close on our new house. We're first time homebuyers! Then we were scrambling to move into said house. Boy do we have A LOT of stuff! And just to make sure we met our quota on moving for the next few years, we moved what my mom had in storage into our barn. It was great to see my mom, she was visiting from Florida, but next time we'll have more fun time. I've been busy unpacking and settling in so I've fallen a little behind on everything.

Anyway, on to the important stuff. I placed a Stampin' Up! order before the move and it's the first delivery I had at our new home. Exciting stuff. This order all began with NEEDING the new Stitched Shapes framelits. They are gorgeous! And since I was placing an order I went ahead and stocked up on basics and add to my paper supplies. Can you ever have too much paper?

While I've got your attention...Stampin' Up! is having an Online Extravaganza November 21-28. Select items will be up to 40% off! It's a perfect time to get what you need for the Holidays. So mark your calendars and prepare for the savings!

Holly Jolly Layers card

Hello my crafty peeps!
Hey...guess what? Santa Claus is coming to town. That's right, folks! He's coming! Making a list and checking it twice. Better spread the word! Lol. You know what that means? Time to make a card.
Once I was done with this card I decides I didn't like that basic black cs and will change it out with crumb cake, real red, or emerald envy on any I make in the future. Maybe even soft suede if I want to keep it more masculine. The hardest part of this card was picking all the oval and getting them lined up. Everything else went together quickly.
The stamp set I used is the Holly Jolly Layers Hostess set from the Holiday 2016 catalog. As a hostess set you can only purchase it with Stampin' Rewards. You earn Stampin' Rewards on any purchase over $150. If you host a party, in person or virtual online, the purchases your guests make will go towards your Stampin' Rewards. Sound like something you're interested in? Contact me through my Stampin' Up! website for more information.

Tips & Techniques Tuesday: Watercolor lift heat embossing

Hello my crafty peeps!
I love embossing! Any kind of embossing. Doesn't matter to me whether it's dry or heat was used, it's all gorgeous. Today we're focusing on a heat embossing technique. Using our Stampin' Up! stampin' pads as watercolor and clear embossing to capture the color we're going to have a lot of fun making backgrounds. People will be left wondering 'how'd they do that?'
Just watch this quick video to see how it's done!

Breast Cancer Awareness card

Hello my crafty peeps!
Not only is October the month of fall foliage, pumpkins, and Halloween fun but also a time to bring Breast Cancer awareness.
So many people have been touched by cancer. It's estimated that 1 in 8 women in the US will develop invasive breast cancer. In 2016, there are more than 2.6 million women with a history of breast cancer in the US.
I've been a hairstylist since 2000 and I've had clients over the years go through chemo and radiation therapy. I've been on the journey with them as they've lost their hair. I've shaved their hair as the loss became too much. It's such an emotional experience and it's one of those moments of perspective when you appreciate what you have in your life. I've also been there when my clients have made it through and their hair begins to grow back. There's always hope even on the darkest days. The sister of one of my sisters-in-law had many battles with cancer. She never gave up and was hopeful and positive to the very end. She will always remain an inspiration to me and I know many others feel the same way. She touched so many lives and has left a beautiful mark on the world.
As with any health issues, early detection is key. Do your monthly self checks. Go to your preventative care appointments. Help spread awareness.

Thankful card featuring Paisleys and Posies

Hello my crafty peeps!

In my last post I showed you how to use Stampin' Up! ink pads to watercolor over embossed images. It's highly addicting, right? I want to use it on all my projects and use all my stamps and ink pads. There goes my supply of whisper white and very vanilla. Lol. There's so many possibilities. Today I'm showing you how you can use all your new handmade specialty paper to make a card. We'll be continuing with the Paisleys and Posies set and using the Paisley dies. I'm loving this set! I can't believe I almost didn't buy it. I can see myself using this set for years to come in my personal crafting. I feel it's always worth purchasing the bundles so you can save 10% and have all the coordinating pieces.
Waning: I didn't pre-plan what I was going to do. This was a mistake that I have now learned from. What does it mean for you? A video that doesn't flow quite as well as it could. I like the card I ended up with but it was a challenge to get there. Not to mention the extra editing needed to cut out the enormous amount of unneeded content. Lol.

Until next time...Happy crafting!

Tips and Techniques Tuesday

Hello my crafty peeps!
Tips and Technique Tuesdays are back! Halloween was fun and I wish I was able to do more but I'm also excited to shift my focus to fall and Thanksgiving themes. The leaves are showing their autumnal colors and the weather is getting downright chilly. Mother Nature is doing a great job of inspiring creativity.
I've decided to do a focus on heat embossing. It really is quite simple and economical. A jar of embossing powder will last a long time since only a little is required to get the job done. I've had some of my powders for years! You'll also need are a heat tool and a watermark/embossing ink. And the stamp of your choice. That's just for starters. As you get more comfortable with heat embossing you can try a lot of techniques that I find are fun and satisfying.
Here's a tutorial on how to make your own background for cards or project life. I show you on an 4.25"x5.5" piece of very vanilla cs but you can go big with this technique. Try it on 8.5"x11" cs and cut it up how you need it.

Until next time...Happy crafting!

Halloween Project Life cards

Hello my crafty peeps!
We've come to the end of my 13 days of Halloween. I've learned so much from this experience and can only hope that next year is even better. I was going to go out with a bang and show you how to alter  the Home Sweet Home die to make a Haunted Mansion but...I don't remember how I did it. I was working on it after my migraine a couple weeks ago and was still under the influence of the medications.

As you can see it would've been a great way to end. But I came up with something that I hope will not be too much of a let down. I was looking around my desk waiting for inspiration to hit. It was covered with scraps from my various Halloween projects. That's when it hit me! I have to do something with all these scraps. Hmm...what can I do? Project Life cards! I'm very big into scrapbooking and memory keeping. It's the inner historian in me. I think it's important for all of us to have some record of our memories to look back on. Something that future generations can pass down. Project Life makes it fast and easy for anyone. And I do mean anyone. As long as you can slide photos into plastic sleeves you can do this. Purchase pre-made cards or make your own.
This video is more about my process when designing than an actual tutorial.

Until next time...happy creating & Happy Halloween!
