Tips & Techniques Tuesday

Hello my crafty peeps!
For today's Tips & Techniques Tuesday we'll be playing with Stampin' Up! Heat & Stick powder! You use it just as you would an embossing powder but when you melt it with your heat tool you get a sticky surface! Why would you want a sticky surface on your project? So you can add glitter! Or flocking! Or foil! This stuff gives you another way to use your stamps so you can really get the most out of them.

One Sheet Wonder Series

Hello my crafty peeps!

Here's card 7 of the Pop of Pink one sheet wonder series! Can you believe we already have 7 cards from one sheet of 12x12 DSP? And there's still more to come!

This card is pretty straight forward to make. I took 2 2x4 pieces and adhered them to the top and bottom of my top fold A2 card base made from Whisper White. I added pieces of Pop of Pink washi tape to give a little more visual interest in the background. Add a delicate doily and a 1.5 x 2.5 pop of pink piece that I attached using dimensionals. The sentiment is from Jar of Love stamp set and stamped on a label from the Project Life framelits. I stamped in Basic Black and Real Red. That was also attached with dimensionals and Rhinestones added to each side. This card came together really quick.

Until next time,
Happy creating!

Hello my crafty peeps!

I have a masculine card for you today. Well, as masculine as I get. This card features the In This World stamp set. I love the old retro/vintage/grunge type stamps. This one was right up my alley. Here's a tutorial on how to put it together.

One Sheet Wonder series

Hello my crafty peeps!

We have another in the Pop of Pink One Sheet Wonder series! These designs are turning out so well! When it's all done this set will make a wonderful gift set. There's a common theme but they're all different. Not as boring as a typical set where it's all pretty much the same card.

As you can see I used 4 pieces from Pop of Pink on this card. I rounded the corners on the pink pieces. The sentiment is from the Pop of Paradise stamp set. I stamped it with versamark then heat embossed it in gold. 'Happiness' is from the In This World stamp set. The butterflies were punched with the Bitty Butterfly punch out of Flirty Flamingo CS. Then coated with versamark and heat embossed with Heat n' Stick. I sprinkled Dazzling Diamonds while the Heat n' Stick was still warm and used my heat tool to reheat it to really adhere the glitter.
'Thinking of You' is adhered with dimensionals and I used glue dots on the butterflies. Everything else got some Snail adhesive.
I took my Flirty Flamingo Stampin' Write marker and added the stitch marks along the edge.

That's it for now.

Shooting Star Penny Slider Card

Hello my crafty peeps!

Have you ever seen one of those cool interactive slider cards and thought 'man, I wish I could make one of those but it's too complicated.'? Well have I got exciting news for you! Stampin' Up! has made it easy with the Shooting Star bundle! The thinlits in the set will cut out the perfect slot for you to insert your penny slider. Choose from a single slot to go back and forth or a circle to spin right round, baby, right round. Like a record, baby. Ok, I'll stop with the 80's music reference. Lol. The coordinating stamp set gives you a few theme options for your totally happening card.
Here's a tutorial on how to use this set. I have my special guest crafter, Ethan, helping me out. On a side note, Ethan looked through the SU catty and specifically requested we get this one. That's my boy!

Until next time...

Tips & Techniques Tuesday

Hello my crafty peeps!

Have you ever looked at your clear acrylic stamp blocks and thought...eww. They were once so shiny they sparkled like diamonds but..not so much any more. It's like looking at life through an allergy fog. How did we survive before Claratin?
There's no need to fret, my friends. There is a solution! Watch this quick video to see how!

Now time to go raid the medicine cabinet or make an alcohol run. An alcohol wipe run that is. Yeah. I said it. Lol. Go get those dirty blocks clean and get to stampin'!

By the way, the Stampin' Up! holiday catalogue goes live September 1st. Lots of goodies to help with your handmade holidays. But first, your stamp blocks will need to be clean before they can touch the latest members of your stamp stash.

Holiday Preorder Unboxing 2016

Hello my crafty peeps!

As a Stampin' Up! Independent Demonstrator I have the benefit of being able to preorder form the latest catalogues. Lovin' my decision to become a demonstrator! I've had a peak at the catty and there's so many wonderful items! I want one of each! Ok, more than one. Lol.
I started off slow. I sat down with my coffee, the digital copy of the catty, and a blank wishlist. Let's split this up into two orders. The first one will focus on Halloween and Thanksgiving. Then I'll do Christmas. Before I was halfway done with my coffee my wishlist was full of products and project ideas! Here's a video of  the unboxing.

This holiday season is going to be fun. And probably hectic. At some point in the fall the Family and I will be moving. Fingers and toes crossed all goes well at the bank and our dream of buying a home will become reality! I'm trying to plan ahead as much as possible.
Currently I'm working on a 13 days of Halloween series that will begin September 15, 2016. I wanted to make it 31 days but.. baby step, Chey. Baby Steps. The last video in this series will air October 13 (yea, that was a little planned). Plenty of time for you to place an order and complete your spooky projects.
Then we'll start on Thanksgiving. Then Christmas. There will be a 12 days of Christmas with the hope of turning up to 11 next year for 25 days of Yuletide cheer. There is a New Year's suite in the catalogue but I haven't decided if I'm going to tackle that challenge yet. It all hinges on the success of our move.

That's it for now.
Happy creating!

Some products will not be listed until September 1, 2016

One Sheet Wonder series

Hello my crafty peeps!
Today I have the third card in my One Sheet Wonder series! I had a lot of fun making this card and it was relatively quick and simple.

I started with a top fold A2 card made from Whisper White CS and stamped the front with the Hardwood background stamp using Sahara Sand. Then I layered 2 pieces from the sheet of Pop of Pink DSP that I cut for the One Sheet Wonder. It is a double sided sheet so as a bonus I can use each side on the card! I used a corner rounder on the square. I usually find that rounding the corners can give a bit more polish to a handmade papercraft. Next I stamped the medium sized mason jar from the Jar of Love stamp set on some scrap Whisper White CS with soft sky and cut it out with the coordinating framelit. (I love that so much of Stampin' Up!'s products coordinate!) While I was at it, I used Versamark to stamp the lid and heat embossed it with gold embossing powder. There's a cute little heart in the Jar of Love stamp set so I used Real Red, Flirty Flamingo, and Pink Pirouette to stamp the heart inside the mason jar. Some I double stamped to give more visual depth. So it looks like some of the hearts are further back in the jar while some are closer to the surface. Next the 'Bless Your Heart' sentiment from the Jar of Love set got stamped in Archival Basic Black. The coordinating dies includes a heart border. I die cut a whole bunch of these in Real Red and Whisper White one day to use on my cards. I added some to the jar and one next to the sentiment. The white hearts got a coat of Wink of Stella in gold while the others got a coat of clear. The jar is attached to the card with some dimensionals.

Tips & Techniques Tuesday

Hello my crafty peeps!
For today's Tips & Techniques Tuesday I have a tutorial on how to stamp your own pattern paper! That's right, we're finding another use for all those stamps in our collection! And we get to customize the colors to go with whatever project we're working on! I'm not seeing a downside here. Lol.
I do have to warn you that I filmed this video intending it to be a voice over. I did not think too much about what microphone I would be using to accomplish this feat. Alas, I fear the mic built into my laptop was not up for the challenge. Yet another thing I'm learning about along the 'be my own boss someday' road. I look forward to the day I'm well established and this is all old hat to me. Until then, I'm gonna enjoy the journey.

One sheet wonder series

Hello my crafty peep! Here's the third card in my one sheet wonder series. I've been eyeing the hardwood background stamp for what seems like forever. I finally went ahead and ordered it. I'm loving it! Masculine cards are going to be so much easier to put together with the wood grained backgrounds.
I also picked up the Shooting Star bundle. This was a set that my son requested I get. We crafted some slider cards a few nights ago. There's a little bit of a learning curve. I think the washers I had on hand were too thick but I'll cover all that when Ethan and I do a slider card tutorial. It's still a super cute set even if you don't use the slider option. The bees and the sentiment are from this set. Cuteness!

Grunge Butterfly Card

Hello my crafty peeps!

The 90's are my decade! I was totally a Grunge kid. I had the bob haircut. I wore flannel even though I lived in Florida. I listened to Nirvana and Pearl Jam and too many others to mention. I also listened to Showtunes. I don't know what that says about me. It was mostly Phantom of the Opera on repeat...
Anyway...I had to combine the lovely textures in the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set with the butterfly in the In This World stamp set. Cause nothing says 90's like a butterfly tramp stamp. Unless it's a tribal tattoo. Lol.

Tips & Techniques Tuesday!

Hello my crafty peeps!

For today's Tips & Techniques Tuesday I'll be showing you how to use your Stampin' Up! stamp pads to dye plain cotton ribbon. I'm using SU 7/8" cotton ribbon. Sadly it's been discontinued. You should be able to use this technique on any cotton material depending on the sizing used. For those of you who aren't familiar with fabrics..sizing is a coating put on fabrics to add body and reduce wrinkles during wear. It's similar to starch but not as stiff. The sizing can affect how well the ink will dye your ribbon. This technique is really easy and kinda addicting. Before you know it you'll be going through your stash looking for more things to color!
