Not to mention it's a great way to build your stamp collection.

Breast Cancer Awareness card

Hello my crafty peeps!
Not only is October the month of fall foliage, pumpkins, and Halloween fun but also a time to bring Breast Cancer awareness.
So many people have been touched by cancer. It's estimated that 1 in 8 women in the US will develop invasive breast cancer. In 2016, there are more than 2.6 million women with a history of breast cancer in the US.
I've been a hairstylist since 2000 and I've had clients over the years go through chemo and radiation therapy. I've been on the journey with them as they've lost their hair. I've shaved their hair as the loss became too much. It's such an emotional experience and it's one of those moments of perspective when you appreciate what you have in your life. I've also been there when my clients have made it through and their hair begins to grow back. There's always hope even on the darkest days. The sister of one of my sisters-in-law had many battles with cancer. She never gave up and was hopeful and positive to the very end. She will always remain an inspiration to me and I know many others feel the same way. She touched so many lives and has left a beautiful mark on the world.
As with any health issues, early detection is key. Do your monthly self checks. Go to your preventative care appointments. Help spread awareness.

Thankful card featuring Paisleys and Posies

Hello my crafty peeps!

In my last post I showed you how to use Stampin' Up! ink pads to watercolor over embossed images. It's highly addicting, right? I want to use it on all my projects and use all my stamps and ink pads. There goes my supply of whisper white and very vanilla. Lol. There's so many possibilities. Today I'm showing you how you can use all your new handmade specialty paper to make a card. We'll be continuing with the Paisleys and Posies set and using the Paisley dies. I'm loving this set! I can't believe I almost didn't buy it. I can see myself using this set for years to come in my personal crafting. I feel it's always worth purchasing the bundles so you can save 10% and have all the coordinating pieces.
Waning: I didn't pre-plan what I was going to do. This was a mistake that I have now learned from. What does it mean for you? A video that doesn't flow quite as well as it could. I like the card I ended up with but it was a challenge to get there. Not to mention the extra editing needed to cut out the enormous amount of unneeded content. Lol.

Until next time...Happy crafting!

Tips and Techniques Tuesday

Hello my crafty peeps!
Tips and Technique Tuesdays are back! Halloween was fun and I wish I was able to do more but I'm also excited to shift my focus to fall and Thanksgiving themes. The leaves are showing their autumnal colors and the weather is getting downright chilly. Mother Nature is doing a great job of inspiring creativity.
I've decided to do a focus on heat embossing. It really is quite simple and economical. A jar of embossing powder will last a long time since only a little is required to get the job done. I've had some of my powders for years! You'll also need are a heat tool and a watermark/embossing ink. And the stamp of your choice. That's just for starters. As you get more comfortable with heat embossing you can try a lot of techniques that I find are fun and satisfying.
Here's a tutorial on how to make your own background for cards or project life. I show you on an 4.25"x5.5" piece of very vanilla cs but you can go big with this technique. Try it on 8.5"x11" cs and cut it up how you need it.

Until next time...Happy crafting!

Halloween Project Life cards

Hello my crafty peeps!
We've come to the end of my 13 days of Halloween. I've learned so much from this experience and can only hope that next year is even better. I was going to go out with a bang and show you how to alter  the Home Sweet Home die to make a Haunted Mansion but...I don't remember how I did it. I was working on it after my migraine a couple weeks ago and was still under the influence of the medications.

As you can see it would've been a great way to end. But I came up with something that I hope will not be too much of a let down. I was looking around my desk waiting for inspiration to hit. It was covered with scraps from my various Halloween projects. That's when it hit me! I have to do something with all these scraps. Hmm...what can I do? Project Life cards! I'm very big into scrapbooking and memory keeping. It's the inner historian in me. I think it's important for all of us to have some record of our memories to look back on. Something that future generations can pass down. Project Life makes it fast and easy for anyone. And I do mean anyone. As long as you can slide photos into plastic sleeves you can do this. Purchase pre-made cards or make your own.
This video is more about my process when designing than an actual tutorial.

Home Sweet Home Halloween treat box

Hello my crafty peeps!

It's day 12 of my 13 days of Halloween! We're in the final stretch. It's been a blast designing projects to share with you.
Today we're using the Home Sweet Home dies to make a cute little treat box. Switching up the paper can make this into an all occasions project. Imagine how cute it would be to have a collection of haunted houses for your Halloween party guests to choose from. Or gingerbread houses at Christmas. What about for a house warming?

Haunted House One Sheet Wonder

Hello my crafty peeps!

We've reached day 11 of my 13 days of Halloween! The leaves are starting to change color and there's a nip in the air. If only my boots weren't all packed away in preparation for our move. I'm so looking forward to getting into my new studio and decorating my home. I hope it will be worth all the headache and stress of buying a house in the end. Having a place that is ours and making it home.
Anyway, back to the reason why we're all here. Another one sheet wonder card! I'm using the Home Sweet Home bundle for this one. See, it's not just for making 3D houses. I've been using parts of this set on most of my Halloween projects and I'll be able to use it year round! Worth investing in if you love making 3D papercrafts.

Jar o' Eyeballs card

Hello my crafty peeps!

Welcome to day 10 of my 13 days of Halloween! Is everyone in the Halloween spirit yet? Have costumes been picked out yet? This really is one of my favorite times of the year!
I've got another one sheet wonder card for y'all! I am loving the Halloween Night DSP. Such wonderful patterns. I'm also loving making tone on tone backgrounds. Stamping with Pumpkin Pie stamp pad on Pumpkin Pie CS is my favorite.
So without further ado...I present Jar o'Eyeballs.

Until next time...happy creating & Happy Halloween!

Jar of Haunts treat bag

Hello my crafty peeps!

Welcome to day 9 of my 13 days of Halloween! It's the time of year for tricks and treats so I've put together another treat bag tutorial for y'all. This one uses the 2x8 cellophane bags from SU. It's nice to think outside the box and use a non traditional size bag. The size makes it a wonderful option for non candy items like pencils and erasers. I don't know about you but I always have a hard time getting pencils/pens/markers to work in treat bags. Well, no longer, my friends! Now there is a solution!
Until next time...happy creating & Happy Halloween!

Mini mix Halloween card

Hello my crafty peeps!

Welcome to day 8 of my 13 days of Halloween! And it's the 1st day of October. Let the season of ghouls and ghosts and witches begin. Wave your Halloween flag like you just don't care!

So for today, I have another card in the Halloween Night one sheet wonder series. I was recovering from a migraine when I was designing and filming so I was all for keeping it simple. This is a card you can put together in no time.
